Alexandra Baych Alexandra Reviews Inky by The Women's Project ![]() Inky has all the vital pulses of a worthwhile theatrical performance, something some of those "broadway" shows are deeply lacking. The characters are dramatic without being melodramatic, and they have depth as well as mystery. Most of all the drama is realistic, understandable and in a sense universal. The story centers on a well-off family battling its own demons and the mysterious character Inky. Although the theater may be called the "Women's Project" the associated feeling that its shows may be "overly feministic" does not correspond to this play. The play has believable dialogue, situations and emotions. Sometimes, genuineness or depth is lost in a play, leaving the characters stereotypical and one-sided, but Inky provides the audience with enough material to relate and even sympathize with the characters. Inky is a great show to see, for those looking for an escape from their lives into the lives of others. The show only lasts 90 minutes without intermission, so thereĆs all of New York just waiting for you. And if you're looking for an authentic Italian cafe, try "Cafe del Teatro" (on 53rd St. & 9th Ave.), you'll love it. I know I did... |
