NOW PLAYING:
Raised By Lesbians

Mon., Aug. 11 @ 4:45 p.m.

In the Q-Box: Matthew Glogowksi

No sixteen-year-old wants to be seen with his parents, lesbian or otherwise. Sprung from the laboratory into the shopping mall, feral freak boy Joe is badgered by his dad, picked on by classmates... oh, and mom has a new girlfriend!?!

Raised By Lesbians' actor Matthew Glogowksi steps into this special Fringe-centric Q-Box to answer our always informative, albeit mostly ridiculous, questions.
What's the best thing about Fringe?
I love the way it's open to everyone, whether it's new playwrights, up- and-coming directors, and actors who just entered the professional world. Letting all these brand-new and fresh faces create their own shows opens up the world to entirely different ways of storytelling.

What's the #1 reason people should come see your show?
It's a very funny and fresh look at the hard times of teenage-hood, while at the same time dealing with controversial topics and putting a hysterical spin on them. Trust me, you have never seen a show like this.

Do you have any opening-night rituals?
I personally do a lot of physical stuff on opening night. I find that it's a good way to keep my energy up and focused.

What are the craziest performance conditions you've had to work under?
I remember I was doing a independent film once, and it was being shot in this old abandoned building in the middle of December. It was freezing! All the actors were huddling for warmth in the corner while they were shooting the scenes that they needed. We were there from 9am to 10pm, so after I got home took a really hot shower.

How did you get involved with the arts?
I wanted to act ever since I was five years old. I moved here from Poland when I was nine and started taking some acting classes after school or on weekends. When I was thirteen, I was accepted to LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts. I spent four years studying theater there, and then studied acting at Brooklyn College. Now that I'm finished with my BFA, I am very excited to enter the professional world of theater.

THE STATS:

High school attended: LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts

Favorite Class:
Acting

Next-up on Netflix queue:
Don't have Netflix but if I did I guess I would get The Day the Earth Stood Still. They are making a remake, and I want to see the original.

Playing on your iPod right now: Nirvana, Nevermind

Favorite pizza topping: Pepperoni

Last good book you read:
Jesus' Son by Denis Johnson

All-time, hands-down favorite piece of theater: The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh.

Who's the least-bad Batman?: Christian Bale. But if we're taking about The Dark Knight, then I can safely say (having seen the movie twice now) that Heath Ledger is amazing and deserves an Oscar for the brilliant performance.
